BEAR1962: Old School gentleman hopeless romantic younger than his age

First, I believe age is just a number. I do not let my age define me - I work hard to DEFY my age. I can run circles around guys 10-20-30 years younger than me in most cases.

I'm an old school gentleman. I like holding hands, taking walks, all the little romantic gestures, a little flirty at times, sometimes use corny lines for laughs…I miss that closeness, the intimacy, getting lost staring into that someone’s eyes…I like cuddling on the couch with that special someone with a blanket and a good movie…I’m a hugger – I love those hugs where you just lose yourself in someone’s embrace, like you haven’t seen them in years, or won’t see them again for years.

If you were to ask my friends to describe me, I believe they would say that I am honest, caring, giving, patient, passionate, dedicated, friendly and outgoing, easy going/laid back, have a good sense of humor (sprinkle in the sarcasm), and a hopeless romantic – “he’s just a great guy!”

I guess I’m looking for someone that I connect with - have some "chemistry" with – almost immediately – if you know, you know! Someone I can talk to and be with for hours, and it's only felt like minutes. Someone who also likes to be active - outdoors or indoors - and enjoys going out, traveling, or just staying inside and getting comfortable…

I like to keep active – I workout 5-6 times a week, either at my home gym, or at my local Planet Fitness…I also love to go hiking, travel to new locations, explore and wander…I would like to start adding activities like biking, kayaking, get back into golfing and even bowling – and if necessary EVEN play Pickleball (you just need to be patient with me!) If you are not an active person, walk on by…I also enjoy going to outdoor concerts, spending time with friends and family, and willing to try new things (just nothing too extreme)…

I retired at the end of 2023...however I remain active, working as a professional volleyball official for girls and boys high school, college, and Junior Olympic (club). So I do some traveling on the weekends for the Club season – usually January into June (but I can plan my schedule)…for high school and college seasons, I am 99% local – no travel/overnight stays.

I come from a fairly large family – had one older brother (passed in 2022), and five sisters (one passed on Christmas Eve 2024); my father passed in April 2023 at almost 92 yrs old, and my mom will be 90 in December. I have two married adult daughters, 36 and 34, and they both married incredible guys. Between them I have seven grandchildren, two in Texas and five in Indiana. I was married for 36 years, divorced at the end of 2023. I don't currently have pets, but I do like most dogs... I'm not really a cat person, but they don't bother me either.

So, what am I looking for? I guess like many of us, I want to find someone to possibly develop into a long-term relationship – who knows? Maybe my final forever love of my life. What do you say we help each other get off of these dating apps for good! Let's start with a conversation, maybe set up a meeting in a public place, and let's see if there is anything there!

I am looking for someone who has similar interests in activities, who works out some and cares about their health. Not necessarily athletic, but active more than sedentary. Must like hugging, holding hands, have a good sense of humor, and NOT be a liberal/democrat... open minded and good communicator. If you say you are interested in a relationship, then make time for building that relationship... I am all about family time and am understanding and patient...but if you are going to start a relationship, make the time to spend with that person.
