Hello...I'm a terribly misplaced West Virginia man, and I've been looking for a way back to the Parkersburg area. Actually anywhere in the Mountain State that's not in the city. Currently living in a filthy, crime-ridden midwest city. The people here don't know how to say "hello," they don't know the mountains and they can't cook. Been here 20 years, and after the first fifteen seconds, I wanted to leave. The woman I was married to for 26 years was from NYC and wouldn't budge. So I got rid of her. I have a 17-yr-old who lives with her still, and never visits. I was born in Charleston and grew up in Washington, WV, south of Parkersburg (Yes, I was a South High Patriot, but taught at Parkersburg High!). I started a career as a newspaper reporter at the Marietta (OH) Times. I worked at a few others in that state, ended up managing editor of a Cincinnati paper. I did time as a war correspondent in South America for the Associated Press. I'll go anywhere just for the adventure of seeing something new. I hung around England in college, and saw other parts of Europe. I've been from Mexico to Chile. I had a career as a drummer and toured 38 states. But, what I like the most are spontaneous road trips, or a week at Watoga State Park in a rustic cabin. I'd trade two weeks in Paris for one week at Watoga. I quit hunting 30 years ago, but I prefer largemouth or trout fishing. Camping is a lot of fun. Of course, I don't want to do this stuff alone. In all of the places I've been, West Virginia women suit my taste. When I get back, I'd like to have a friend waiting. I'm in no rush -- learned that lesson the hard way. If we're good friends, there are possibilities, I'm done with this city garbage. I want to come back where I'm meant to be.
