Why Do People Have Sex?

To make children
To improve sexual skills
To seek revenge
To experience pleasure
All of the above

It is INSTILLED in us.
God wanted offspring.
God made us male and female to in this way involve us in HIS PLAN for family. (Matthew 19:4, Mark 10:6)
He could have made us all as Adam - out of dust.
He could have made us all as Eve - out of someone else's rib.
But he chose to make us male and female to in this way involve us in his plan for family.

We exist because God wanted family.
He told us to be fruitful and multiply and to fill the earth. Even after our sin in the Garden of Eden, he repeated this instruction.

Celibacy isn't for everyone. But the New Testament teaching is that it is better to be celibate. (Matthew 19:10 and 1 Corinthians 7:1) The ones who can accept it, should. (Matthew 19:11-12)

Of course, if you are married, it is good to get the goods of marriage.
But not so many people are getting the goods of marriage these days. (Proverbs 31:10, Matthew 19:10, Ecclesiastes 7:28)
