We may not have Offgrid here much longer. With his cancer and all, Like the rest of us, he is on his way out. So, enjoy him while he lasts. Then we turn the page.

How long I last will largely depend on the T-cell transplant also called Car-t that I will be receiving in the next couple months. It will kick my a** and take possibly a year to fully recover just from the treatment. Needless to say I'm not looking forward to it and have been putting it off but I can't keep doing that because I will end up off the recipient list if I do. The chemo I've been taking is difficult enough but a cake walk compared to what's in store for me.
The doctor who's doing the T-cell treatment gave me a book to read about my cancer and the treatments. There's a testimonial in there about a guy who went through the treatment with the help of his wife. He's 45 and was very upfront about the many problems he had and the year it took to finally feel normal again but in the end it didn't last. He had to have additional but different treatments.
I don't know how long he lived because it doesn't give that information. But what I don't understand is why this book is given out to read because it's not up lifting at all. It does have a lot of information but the story didn't help me feel better about the treatment and instead made me feel worse. This guy was almost 20 years younger than me and had his wife to help him. I'm older and living alone but still going through with it because I have only two choices. I could keep doing lower grade types of therapy's with almost no chance of remission and a slow death or the T-cell treatment which has a chance at putting me into remission which could last for many years, or not. I could also die during the treatment so there's that.

CAR-T cell therapy (chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy.) is a cancer treatment that takes cells from the body and genetically changes them so they can fight cancer. T cells are key players in the body's immune system because of their ability to identify and attack cells that don't belong in the body, such as germs and cancer cells. The cells are grown to much higher numbers in the lab and then infused back into the person's bloodstream. In addition, CAR-T cells can keep multiplying in the body, producing lasting anticancer results.

Clinical trials with CAR T-cell therapy report overall survival rates of around 50-60% for eligible patients with relapsed or refractory cancers. Long-term follow-up studies indicate some patients remain cancer-free years after therapy (YESCARTA, Cell Therapy 360® ). A 2020 study tracked children receiving treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, 60% of those children remained free of cancer 12 months after treatment. In a recent clinical trial, one third of treated individuals had no detectable myeloma after 5 years without any further therapy.

Your oncologists will attempt to harness the power of your immune system to fight cancer. Their aim is is to either completely eradicate the cancer, manage it to prolong the patient’s life, or relieve symptoms to improve quality of your life. Your physician also knows that to alleviate feelings of sickness during cancer treatment, reading about other patients' experiences can be beneficial, such as shared experience, emotional support, practical tips, community connection and inspiration.

    Best..

    Interesting stuff
My brother did well with his cancer treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
My dad almost died from surgery for Prostate Cancer, then lived to his 90th birthday. A good stretch from when he had surgery.

My mom survived breast cancer and lived into her 80's.

Now days, it seems like everybody should have cancer .Chemical this and chemical that.Good to make healthy choices, but it is a junk food society with highly processed foods. Not as much nature goodness. One hopes that a healthier life-style is the solution. Maybe our odds are better with healthy choices. Hope RFK Jr. sets us right.

Many cancers are hit a & miss on survival. Sometimes it aggressive sometimes not. I'm told mine is aggressive and when I was first diagnosed I was at stage 2. The first treatments didn't work and during those treatments I progressed to stage 3. My current treatments have stopped the cancers progression and may have even reversed some of it's growth but that can't be verified without a bone marrow biopsy. I had one done in the beginning which is what is used to conclusively verify the presence of multiple myeloma.
So the more aggressive the cancer the harder it is to treat and the less likely a treatment will keep the cancer from returning quickly.

The things we learn which we would never otherwise study. The ball is in your court. So you study these things. You increase in knowledge on something that is unpleasant to you. Even the experts are short on knowledge. But study a way you do.
